Heli | Heather Mountain Lodge | Great Canadian Heli-Skiing

Full Time Head Chef for the Winter 2025/2026 Season

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Develop a culinary plan for breakfast, lunch, aprè and daily 3 course meals.
  • Budget and develop menus to ensure top quality satisfaction for our heli-skiing guests and staff during operation.
  • Plan and manage all food procurement and inventory in a remote, heli-supported environment and ensure minimal waste and effective rotation of perishables.
  • Skilled in butchery and cooking techniques and pastry background is an asset.
  • Accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions (GF, vegan, allergies).
  • Train and mentor staff on techniques, safety protocols, and guest interaction.
  • Enforce HACCP standards, allergen protocols, and provincial health regulations.
  • Keep the work area, utensils and production equipment clean and sanitized
  • Oversee Kitchen equipment purchases, repairs, and ordering restaurant kitchen cleaning supplies.
  • Order supplies as required on a regular basis.
  • Create a high-energy, collaborative food culture, driven by our stunning surroundings and mountain life attitude.
  • Lead the kitchen team by example and manage all functions of Kitchen operations.
  • Work closely with the Front of House Management Team to ensure excellent communication, and flawless delivery of our Food & Beverage services.
  • As part of the management team part take in team meetings as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience as Head or Executive Sous Chef  is required.
  • Previous similar experience leading a heli-ski kitchen ideally in high end, remote, or mountain lodges.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of FOODSAFE, workplace hazardous materials and first aid is generally required.
  • Proficiency with dietary accommodations.
  • Positive and humble attitude, culinary driven and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable living and working in a remote BC mountain setting under rigorous winter conditions.
  • This position may include lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience.

Applicants must have the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as a team member
  • Professional presentation in speaking, dress and grooming.
  • A passion for backcountry skiing and/or snowboarding.
  • Two professional references.
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status or a Canadian visa/work permit valid for the entire duration of the season for which you are applying
  • Guides must have ACMG, CSGA or equivalent ski guiding certification.
