Heli-skiing in British Columbia is famously world-class; in normal winters, skiers travel from all over to experience this pinnacle of ski adventure. Which means that the unprecedented circumstances around travel this winter season have a silver lining: an opportunity to take advantage of once-in-a-lifetime heli-ski trips on dates that are usually booked solid; and the rare opportunity to share an entire luxe heli-ski lodge with only your chosen bubble of people.
And it gets even better. Great Canadian Heli-Skiing, a boutique heli-ski lodge located in a region known as the snowiest in Canada, is offering discounts on all of its packages.
For its “First Tracks” trips (dates before January 16, including the holidays and New Years), Great Canadian Heli-Skiing is offering 30% off peak season pricing on its packages: Classic (small groups, unlimited vertical), Private Group (designed for parties of four or less to fly and ski exclusively together with their guide), and Private Helicopter (for parties of one to eight, to charter their own helicopter for ultimate freedom with schedule and terrain). For those looking for even more exclusivity, guests can buy out the entire heli-skiing experience with the Private Lodge package (only your group flying, skiing and staying), at 50% off peak season pricing.
“We are all starving for opportunities to share experiences together,” said Greg Porter, owner of Great Canadian Heli-Skiing. “Our private heli-skiing packages are about comfortably reuniting you with those you care most about. Our small groups, direct drive-in access and private packages give our guests control to feed their souls with adventure and personal connectivity.”
As the innovator of small-group heli-skiing, Great Canadian Heli-Skiing’s Classic package and its boutique timber-frame lodge has always been about intimate groups. The addition of Private packaging aims to offer heli-skiers and boarders increasing levels of control of their privacy, pace, schedule and terrain.
Great Canadian Heli-Skiing, along with its sister company Heather Mountain Lodge, has been operating since 1988 as a family-owned and operated business with the motto: “We are in the business of Best Day Evers, those meaningful and memorable experiences that make your life’s highlight reel.” All of its packages are skied in small groups of four guests or less, include unlimited vertical (no extra vertical charges) and operate exclusively using A-Star helicopters. Trip lengths are flexible, a unique offering in the heli-ski industry: as short as two days and up to ten. Its base of Heather Mountain Lodge, accessible by car, is located halfway between the ski meccas of Golden and Revelstoke along Highway 1, known as the Powder Highway. On the doorstep of Glacier National Park, Great Canadian Heli-Skiing’s tenure spans the Selkirk and Purcell ranges. These mountains are famous as the birthplace of heli-skiing in the 1960s for good reason: they’re still known today as some of the snowiest mountains in Canada, logging an average of 215 days with snow on the ground and 112 days of snowfall.
“Celebrating life is the most dreamed-about luxury of this moment, we want to make it a reality for our guests,” said Porter. “We want to have the opportunity to make 2020 great again, and that’s what we’re delivering with these experiences.”
Package Descriptions:
Private Group packages are designed for parties of four guests or less. This option allows you to buy out the extra seat(s) in the helicopter to fly and ski exclusively with your own group and guide. The helicopter and lodge will service other groups, as well as yours.
Private Helicopter packages start with a party of three guests or less with two guides, with your own helicopter. It’s the heli-skiing equivalent of chartering a private jet. For an additional person fee, you may add friends or family, up to eight, to your private helicopter package, and organize your party into two groups. The lodge will service other groups, in addition to yours.
Private Lodge packages are an exclusive buyout. No other groups will be heli-skiing or at the lodge. There is an option of one helicopter, best for groups of 12 or less, or two helicopters, for group sizes of 13 or more. Your friends and family will have a private lodge, private helicopters, private groups, private chefs, and hundreds of runs in the Selkirk and Purcell mountains all to yourselves: the ultimate heli-skiing holiday.
