If craft beer is your beverage of choice, you will have been as glad as we were when we introduced delicious draft beer on tap from our local brewery, Whitetooth Brewing Company, to our bar menu two winters ago. Since then we have received nothing but happy feedback from our beer-loving guests from around the world. Whitetooth is located in Golden, BC and uses fresh water from the Purcell and Selkirk mountains to create their small-batch Belgian-inspired and West Coast influenced range of beers.
Our favourite, and most regularly featured brew, is appropriately named Blower Pow IPA, an homage to the characteristically light and abundant snow that our region is known for. If you prefer a light, refreshing, easy drinking beer over the bold and hoppy IPA, we also pour Whitetooth’s Session Blonde Ale as the perfect alternative to cater to all beer palates!
Skiing and outdoor adventure are at the core of Whitetooth’s identity. The namesake of the brewery is Whitetooth Ski Area, which was Golden’s original ski resort before it became Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in 2000. The brewery’s labels all feature artwork which showcases Golden’s iconic landscapes and adventure activities such as skiing, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, rock/ice climbing and paragliding. These are the activities that Whitetooth brewmasters bear in mind when brewing the beer to best complement them: “Our goal is to combine the best experiences that our expansive mountain playground has to offer with the perfect beverage afterwards.”
Whitetooth Brewing Company is a relatively new brewery, having opened in 2016. Since then, they have become a favourite amongst locals, and have continued to impress visitors travelling through Golden. Beer critics agree, with Whitetooth winning 5 medals in the 2020 Canadian Beer Awards, the most of any brewery in Canada.
