YOUR EXPERIENCE

IF OUR GROUPS WERE ANY SMALLER, YOU'D BE FLYING THE HELICOPTER.

Great Canadian Heli-skiing was born in 1988 when a guide and few heli-skiing guests wanted to recapture the spirit of adventure by pioneering small groups.

The Weiss Family

"Pristine snow conditions, good guiding, and great food...that's what keeps us coming back to Great Canadian," says Dave Weiss, sitting with a glass of wine in his hand by our huge stone fireplace in the Lodge. He's in the middle of six days of heli-skiing with us. Its our 25th year anniversary this year, and Dave and his wife Amy, along with their two kids Danny and Kayli, have seen it all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxlXP4TlDsI&feature=youtu.beFrom day one, they were committed to the core. Making the journey from Washington up to the Selkirks and Purcells, they first arrived to find a "Love Shack" in the forest just off the highway. A wood stove to dry boots and a helicopter waiting to lift them up to the alpine for the best skiing of their lives. Amy remembers bringing her sister up to do double duty - babysitting and massage therapy! She got to ski once in awhile too...!The trees that were only as tall as Danny and Kayli when they were 5 or 6 years old, waving goodbye to mom and dad in the helicopter, are now towering above the timber frame entrance of Heather Mountain Lodge. "The Lodge got better but the mountains stay the same," says Dave, smiling. Grateful that the Love Shack has metamorphosed into a 5 star Lodge, the Weiss family can now enjoy their heli-skiing in comfort - they've earned it! Now it's Danny and Kayli who are leaving mom and dad behind - the two kids are shredding everywhere they go (check out their video on an earlier blog post). "The family that skis together, stays together." Words to live by!
