There is an end of dinner tradition at Heather Mountain Lodge, to share the magic of the day with a wrap up talk, or perhaps pep talk for others. An anticipated event for some, or feared event for others, as this exchange usually results in a few laughs to be had and a few toasts to be made. It was a routine pioneered by our in-house renaissance man Terry Makos, maybe better known as TM to most. TM started at Great Canadian Heli-Skiing in 1996, after already establishing a career guiding at Wiegele’s World. After 18 years of safety and service, the winter of 2014 was a bit of a swan song for TM at Great Canadian Heli-Skiing. TM joined us, by special request of the Alexander family, for the last week in March. TM didn’t miss a beat, mesmerizing Heather Mountain Lodge with his “magic”. We had a great time reminiscing together, making sure we let him know how much we missed him and hoping he missed us too. Truly, this is man with a living legacy, which Great Canadian Heli-Skiing owes a sincere thank-you to.
But just in case this sounds too much like an end of a book, there are rumours of guest appearances to be had in the future. So here is the deal, if you are a TM disciple we need your help. Make sure you call in with your 2015 TM guide request, like “Gandalf the Great” you never know when TM might appear next.
